Chiara Banfi (Brazil, 1979) lives and works in Rio de Janeiro. She graduated with a degree in Fine Arts from Fundação Armando Álvares Penteado (FAAP), São Paulo in 2003. The artist explores the dialogue between frequencies and silence. Nature and music are recurring topics of research. Some of the artist’s solo exhibitions include Notations at Galeria Vermelho, in São Paulo, 2016, Firehouse, De Vleeshal in Holland, 2005. Banfi has participated in group shows such as: Blooming Brazil-Japan: O Seu Lugar, Toyota Municipal Museum of Art, Japan, 2008; Futuro do Presente, Instituto Itaú Cultural, São Paulo, 2008; J’en Rêve, Fondation Cartier, France, 2005. Her work is in the collections of Pinacoteca do Estado de São Paulo; De Vleeshal, Holland, Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego, EUA; Gilberto Chateaubriand Collection; and The Museum of Modern Art — MAM —, in Rio de Janeiro.
